Goodreads Synopsis:
In horror movies, the final girl is the one who's left standing when the credits roll. The one who fought back, defeated the killer, and avenged her friends. The one who emerges bloodied but victorious. But after the sirens fade and the audience moves on, what happens to her?

Lynette Tarkinton is a real-life final girl who survives a massacre twenty-two years ago, and it has defined every day of her life since. And she's not alone. For more than a decade she's been meeting with five other actual final girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, putting their lives back together, piece by piece. That is until one of the women misses a meeting and Lynette's worst fears are realized -- someone knows about the group and is determined to take their lives apart again, piece by piece.

But the thing about these final girls is that they have each other now, and no mayor how bad the odds, how dark the night, how sharp the knife, they will never, ever give up.

My Review:
When I first picked this book up, I was nervous. I had high hopes but did not want to be disappointed because the synopsis made it sound so similar to Final Girls by Riley Sager, which, if you know you know, I was not a fan of. I have enjoyed reading other Grady Hendrix books so I was eager to see how it differed.

I'll be honest, when I first started this one I was not sure what to think. I was enjoying it, but not loving it and it felt just kind of dry. BUT, come 1/3 of the way through things really start to pop off and the plot starts to get more and more interesting. There were so many fun twists in this book that it was such a fun adventure to go on. I really enjoyed all the nods to classic horror movies. I found those parts to be especially fun ways to give all the girls different backstories. It made this feel like the perfect book to pick up just in time for Halloween.

If you read Final Girls by Riley Sager and left that one wanting more, please give this one a try. If you are in the market for a fast paced thriller, wait no more. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this before October is over because it truly felt like a chef's kiss to spooky season.

Signing off,
Molly
