September Small Goals

The start of a new month means it’s time for one thing: another set of small goals! These plans for the month ahead have really been helping me stay on track with achieving more and feeling more accomplished. Plus, I love coming up with new goals every month to challenge myself and grow stronger. If you set your own version of small goals, feel free to link it in the comments so I can check it out!
Let’s begin by looking back at August:
  1. Eat out once a weekI actually did pretty well with this goal aside from a couple of extra ice cream dates. Ice cream is my weakness—I just can’t help it.
  2. Finish “Small Sacrifices” by Ann Rule – This was one goal I was unable to accomplish this past month. When I would wake up in the morning, I would read this book for about an hour, but this month somehow got away from me. Although I still have a bit to go in the book, I feel confident that I can finish it this month. Have any of you read this book or know the case? What do you think?
  3. Clean out my closet – I am proud to say I achieved this goal! One afternoon, I took everything out of my closet and only put back the items I wanted to keep. I feel much better about my closet because it looks so clean now.
  4. Start a wedding series on the blog – Check! While I thought this would be one of the easiest posts for me to write, it turned out to be incredibly challenging due to its personal nature. I posted about my feelings during the process thus far, but I plan on documenting the whole process from beginning to end. So, be on the lookout for more posts from this series.
Well, fulfilling three out of four goals isn’t bad. I feel happy about what I was able to accomplish this month. It was kind of a weird month for me because it seems like August flew by and I completely lost track of time. I don’t know how that happened, but oh well! Onto September and the beginnings of fall: my favorite time of year!
Here are the goals I want to accomplish in September:
  1. Finish buying materials for DIY wedding projects – I want to be able to craft away the winter when it’s too cold to go out. I’ve slowly been buying little bits and pieces here and there, so I have quite a lot already purchased. Now I just need some odds and ends as well as some crafting supplies, and I will be all set for winter.
  2. Be more active in the blogger communityAlthough I read a lot of blogs, I have never been super active in the community. So, I want to start joining in on the conversations by commenting more on my fellow bloggers’ posts and the blogger Facebook groups I belong to. There is just so many opportunities to gain some readers while also building friendships!
  3. Take some pictures of myself for the blogAdmittedly, this goal is scary for me because it means putting myself out there. If you haven’t noticed, a majority of the pictures on my blog are all product-based: this is not an accident. I feel so uncomfortable in front of the camera, so I don’t want people to stare at me taking pictures of myself outside. However, I have been scouting out some spots around my apartment complex where I could set up my tripod and just use my remote to take some pictures without feeling completely awakward. This goal will be a huge step for me if I accomplish it, so I'm up for the challenge.
  4. Stylize my dresser hutch better – I have this dresser in my room that has an amazing hutch for storage, but I am having a hard time deciding what I want to place on it. I want it to match the rest of my apartment and I am just drawing a blank as to what to do with it. Right now, I have a bunch of knickknacks on it, which is okay, but it just doesn’t complement the rest of my apartment. I have a couple of ideas, so I’ll have to try them and determine what works—and looks—best.
Those are my September small goals! I’m excited about this round of them because there are a lot of fun ones to accomplish. What are some things that you’re working on this month?
Here’s to a good September.

Molly

  2. Sometimes there are books I'm so excited to start and they fall so flat. It's a huge disappointment. If the book isn't holding you it's okay to quit. It's so hard to do but it's not worth wasting your time when you could be reading something that really speaks to you.

I just finished "Montana 1948" and before that "As Good As Gone" both by Larry Watson. Neither were something I would normally gravitate towards but they were so good.

My goals for September (aside from work) are to record with my podcasting partner once a week for the whole month and network more with our brand.

  3. I just had to update my pictures too for social media & my blog. Mine were SO out of date by a couple of years, but like you I just get nervous doing it. I had my husband take my picture though, and doing them with someone I'm comfortable around makes all the difference. I'm still totally awkward though!

    1. I ended up having my fiance help me out! I was just so awkward by myself. Having someone there really helped me relax a bit more and I feel pretty good with the pictures I got out of it! It's always nice to know that other people get nervous too because I feel like when I see other peoples pictures they're just so effortlessly done.
